I purchased It’s Only Too Late If You Don’t Start Now by Barbara Sher because I have thought for some time now that there was something else that I was meant to do. I wasn’t having what many call a mid-life crisis. I hadn’t went out and bought a new sports car or changed my hair or clothing, I just had that nagging feeling that I wasn’t satisfied with what I was doing and that I was made for something else. After reading the first couple of chapters of It’s Only Too Late If You Don’t Start Now I was starting to think that maybe this was all just a bit of nonsense but enough of it touched home that I kept reading. As I kept reading more kept hitting home and pulled me along wanting to know what the next page said. It was amazing how many of the things in the book were exactly what I had or was experiencing and how many of them I could relate to. This isn’t a book that tells you to just dump everything and head off into the sunset pursuing you dreams. It is a realistic look at finding your dreams and reaching for them. It also spends a lot of time talking about why you have done the things you have done up until this point in your life. It then puts you into action, taking steps toward you dreams. I come from a Christian base and this book does not dwell on God centered spirituality and sometimes leans away but your belief systems are not what this book is about. I had no difficulty merging my Christian beliefs with the theories proposed in the book. Two other books along the same topic are The Dream Giver and If You Want To Walk On Water You Have To Get Out Of The Boat. If you feel that you were meant for something else you may find It’s Only Too Late If You Don’t Start Now helpful. The chapters in the book include: Don’t Panic, It’s Only a Midlife Crisis Purchase It's Only Too Late If You Don't Start Now |
