Don't Break Your Christmas Budget
Many people roll into Christmas buying presents for everyone with credit cards. They break their Christmas budget and dread seeing January come around when the bills start to arrive. This isn’t hard to solve it just takes a plan and a little discipline. You should handle Christmas with a savings account just the same as you would your vacation, car and home repairs, car purchases or any other significant spending event that you know is coming ahead of time. Christmas is not an unexpected expense. We all know exactly when Christmas is each year and if we should happen to forget, the advertisements will jolt us awake. All that you need to do is figure out exactly how much you spend at Christmas, as close as you can. Look at it person by person; figure out what you are going to spend on each of them. Then all that you need to do is put this in your monthly budget. When Christmas rolls around you will have enough money to buy something for everyone on your list. Just make sure you stick with your estimates for each person. A little extra here and there will break your Christmas budget real fast. Don’t look at me like I’m Scrooge. Your relatives and friends don’t want you to go into debt and all the problems that accompany debt just so you can give them a new tie. After each Christmas you can go back over your budget and make adjustments, it’s not a perfect science but it will help you look forward to January each year. Don’t break your Christmas budget again.
