About Us - The Finance For Families Family

You may be wondering who is behind Finance For Families.com. We are a family from West Virginia with no remarkable story. I grew up with parents that were good money conscious people whose parents had weathered the great depression and fought their way back onto their feet. Their experiences filtered all the way down to their grandson. They've all espoused the values of hard work and wise financial management.

I have no formalized financial training, just a bachelor of sciences degree in engineering. My financial training has come mostly in the form of reading books, research here on the internet, talking with friends, family and co-workers and living life itself.

In the winter of 2004 I taught a financial class at the church I attend. It was amazing how much you can learn as the teacher. Hopefully those in the class got as much out of it as I did.

I have always been accused of being tight with my money, but have still made some of the mistakes that are common in today's current culture of money management. If I had followed the advice that I have learned over the years from the start I would be a lot better off today.

My desire is to help others get off of the debt treadmill and take control of their financial future. Take the time to go through the site from top to bottom and put the principles into practice. They can change your life.

If you read through this site and think that you can't do it or that you cannot get out of debt, don't worry about it. You do not have to do everything perfect. I still stumble from time to time and do something stupid, everyone does. Just stop accumulating more debt and begin working your way through the plan. The bottom line is that it all depends on how bad you really want to be out of debt and financially secure.
